About Us

Because of the COVID-19/Coronavirus Pandemic, many of the ways that Christmas is celebrated might be different this year. As our regular lives have changed because of what’s happening across the planet, we’ve had to come up with new safer ways to celebrate our existing traditions.

A Northern Heritage Christmas is our contribution to this change! Our goal is to bring our readers a new and unique hub for everything Christmas in the Northern BC. Together with our partners, we’re dedicated to gathering all your favourite Christmas traditions in one convenient place.

Learn more about our partner, the Northern Trails Heritage Society (NTHS):

The Alaska Highway is our main street stretching for almost 1500 kilometres from Dawson Creek to the Yukon border. The NTHS shares heritage issues, practices and programs among the eight museums in the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) and the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM). The Peace Liard Regional Arts Council established the Northern Trails Heritage Society in 2015 to facilitate communication and sharing of resources among the museums and collectors of artifacts.

The NTHS is a charitable non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. The organization is striving for sustainable funding and to date has accomplished awareness and public relations projects closely related to tourism.

NTHS is the only regional organization with a mandate to preserve heritage working in partnership with the PRRD and NRRM and all the communities in the Northeast.
The NTHS aims to stimulate residents and inform visitors of the rich heritage of Northeastern BC by working with the schools, businesses and community groups. Each museum focuses on what is unique to their community and plans heritage projects and events to instill pride in local residents.
Our membership continues to grow and now includes Arts and Culture organizations, and numerous individuals who feel strongly about the importance of Heritage.

Northern Trails Heritage Society believes that understanding the paths that brought us to our present day civilization will set us on the right routes to future development for the best outcome for humanity.

Trails come in all forms in Northern BC. Among the heritage trails are the extensive river systems, horse-packing freight trails, native hunting trails, bush pilot routes, railways and logging roads. Modern trails are paved roads, walking paths, bike trails, ski trails and hiking paths. The Northern Trails Heritage Society aims to rediscover heritage trails, document trails that connect our history, and forge new trails in the pursuit of preserving the heritage of Northeastern BC.
